Committee Bylaws
This committee reviews recommendations from the Campus for honorary degrees. The committee shall submit its recommendations to the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate shall review and vote on the committee’s recommendation during executive session closed to the public. Upon a positive vote by the Faculty Senate, the committee shall forward the approved nominations to the Chancellor. After review by the Chancellor, recommendations are forwarded to the University of Missouri (UM) System Honors Committee. All names shall be held in strict confidence, with public announcements to be made only by the University of Missouri Board of Curators or the Chancellor.
Each Department may nominate one (1) faculty member for service on the Honorary Degrees committee. The committee consists of the Provost and four (4) members elected by the Faculty Senate from the list of department nominees.
