Committee Bylaws
This committee makes recommendations to the Faculty Senate regarding student academic life at Missouri S&T, including, but not limited to, the following: scheduling of classes and examinations; budgeting and distribution of funds paid by students for student activities; the administration of student awards and financial aid; ruling on appeals that may be submitted by students regarding awards and financial aid; departmental advisement practices; rules and regulations pertaining to student organizations; oversight and discipline of student organizations, including review of all sanctions, withdrawals or denials; student publications; and the civil rights of all students. The committee may appoint subcommittees and delegate its responsibility to them. Members of such subcommittees need not be members of the Faculty Senate or the Student Affairs Committee.
Each department may nominate one (1) faculty member for service on the Student Affairs committee. The committee consists of four (4) faculty members elected by the Faculty Senate from the list of departmental nominees, one (1) faculty member elected by and from the Faculty Senate; four (4) students selected by the Student Council; and one (1) student selected by the Council of Graduate Students. The Dean of Students, the Vice Chancellor for Student Success, the Registrar, and the Director of Student Financial Services are ex-officio non-voting members of the committee.
